Washington Irving's The Legend of Sleepy Hollow by Chrisopher Cook (regional premiere)

A traditional telling of Washington Irving's classic ghost story. In a snug rural valley near Tarrytown, a romantic rivalry brews between a bumbling

                                 "Ghosts of Boulder" book signing

Featuring: Ann Alexander Leggett & Jordan Alexander Leggett

10/22/2013

7:30 pm

Ann Alexander Leggett and Jordan Alexander Leggett will speak about and sign their new book, Ghosts of Boulder, on Tuesday, October 22nd
at 7:30pm!

About the Book:
Boulder's rich past hides plenty of hair-raising lore. A home in the Newlands is said to be haunted by a previous owner who was displeased with
remodeling done on his abode, while a Victorian on Pearl Street has been plagued by strange events for a century. Guests at one hotel might
be surprised by the mysteries wrapped around the building, and spirits have a standing reservation at a restaurant that was once a mortuary. In
Ghosts of Boulder, Ann Alexander Leggett and Jordan Alexander Leggett offer up a tour of the tales that haunt our town.

             The Haunted Mines

                                                  Above image from www.koaa.com

The Haunted Mines are Colorado Springs' most exciting seasonal Halloween haunted attraction. This "haunted house" type of attraction is
constructed on the historic, 26 acre, centuries-old grounds of the Mining Museum, a former dairy farm from the 1800's.

The Haunted Mines haunted house is designed to thrill, scare, and entertain you. It is an indoor, outdoor, and underground fun experience that
is physically and psychologically challenging.

The Haunted Mines haunted house in Colorado Springs is open "Dusk to Die" - from when it gets dark at night (dusk), until the lines DIE down.
Typically that's 7:30 to 10 on the weeknights that we're open (see
calendar), and 7:30 to Midnight on Friday and Saturday.

Parking opens one hour prior to the haunt opening - please don't arrive prior to that.
Ticket sales close at 9pm weeknights, and at 11pm Friday & Saturday.

                                    We scare because we care.

The Haunted Mines are located at the Western Museum of Mining and Industry in Colorado Springs. It is just east of I-25 Exit 156a (the North
Gate Blvd/Gleneagle exit). You can see us from the highway. We are just across from the Air Force Academy's north gate

Ghost Walk: On Capitol Hill: Spooks and spirits haunt Denver. Many hover near the Capitol. Come try to invoke some during a pleasant,
relaxed two-hour stroll around parts of Capitol Hill. In addition to ghostly embodiments, we'll also explore some of the architecture, history, and
sex scandals of the region. Be advised: Salty language will be used to describe seamy behavior. Phil Goodstein is a well-known Denver historian
who has been hosting walking tours of Denver for many years.

The Ghosts of Cheesman Park:  There are more than 2,000 bodies buried in Cheesman Park! The location of the Changeling is adjacent to
it. Bizarre events sometimes occur there late at night, and supposedly there is a spot in the park where an object never casts a shadow at high
noon. Exactly what is going on, the history of the park, its spirits, and nearby houses are featured on this walking tour. Phil Goodstein is a well-
known Denver historian and author.

Banjo Billy's Bus Tours ~ Denver!

Ghost tours begin in October and take place every Friday and Saturday at 6 & 8 PM and at 4 PM on Sundays.

Tickets sell out quickly for this ghastly good time, so be sure to buy tickets early. All ages welcome.

We give tours of Boulder and Denver from a school bus tricked out to look like a hillbilly shack. Hear ghost, crime and history stories while
sitting on a couch, recliner or saddle as the bus rolls through the cities. It's one unforgettable tour!

As the Queen City of the Plains, Denver has long been a destination for those traveling west. But it’s been a rocky road from mining town to
metropolis. Join us on our 90 minute Denver tour to learn about Denver’s corrupt past, promising future, and the ghosts and criminals who still
form our identity today. Here are just some of the things we cover:

How Denver’s corruption led to a war right in front of our city hall.
Ever wonder if the US Mint has ever been robbed? It depends on who you ask.
Why people in Victorian clothing wander through Cheesman park.
How Denver got it’s name for the price of a barrel of whiskey.
The real story of Molly Brown, before and after that boat incident.

The Denver tours depart from the Big Blue Bear at the Colorado Convention Center on the corner of 14th and California St.

Start your evening with a relaxing wine tasting and then jump on board and go for a spooky ride to some of the classic haunts of Denver.

Hear stories of forgotten graves, ghostly floating heads and learn some of the darker side of Denver history.

Were not talking about fun house haunts... but the classic haunts of the City.

We will meet at:
Wild Women Wine
1660 Champa St
Denver, CO  80202

Parking is available at the covered parking lot located on the northwest corner of 16th & Champa.

The Wine tasting will begin at 6:00 pm and last until the Coach departs at 7:00. We will not be able to wait for anyone that is running late so
make sure to arrive on time (and enjoy some wine).

Make sure to check in with our host at the Winery.
You will be able to sign your waiver and receive your tickets for your wine at that time.

Weather permitting we will get out at some of the locations.

We will visit some of the most famous locations and tell you the stranger than fiction stories that make these places so unique.

The tour lasts 2 hours and starts with a wine tasting at 6:00 and the Coach leaving for the tour at 7:00pm

You will be able to sit back and relax and listen to tales of history and hauntings between stops on our wonderful Coach provided by DWS Coach.

The tour will be conducted by Bryan & Baxter of the Rocky Mountain Paranormal Research Society.

The Iron Springs Chateau, in conjunction with The Funky Little Theater Company Funky Little Theater Company present:

The Restless Ghost of Emma Crawford:  The story behind the Manitou Springs Annual Emma Crawford Coffin Races

If you have ever attended the coffin races in Manitou Springs, you may be familiar with the story of Emma Crawford. As the story goes, Emma
Crawford moved to Manitou Springs in 1889 as a young woman, hoping the town’s mineral springs and mountain air might alleviate her
consumption (tuberculosis). Alas, it wasn’t meant to be and when she died in December 1891 at the age of 19, her dying wish - to be buried at
the top of Red Mountain - was granted. Her fiancé and a team of 12 pallbearers carried Emma’s remains up to her final resting place. It took two
days, but Emma received her burial wishes.

In 1912, Emma's grave was relocated to the southern slope of the mountain, because the railway was being built to go up the mountain. Sadly
this wasn’t meant to be either. In 1929, after the ill-fated move and decades of storms, Emma’s coffin apparently became dislodged and took off
down the mountain, ending up as a jumble of bones and casket hardware in the canyon below. Her remains were discovered by two local boys
playing in the area.  Her remains were reburied in Crystal Valley Cemetery, and in 2004, an official grave site was granted to her.

Following "The Restless Ghost of Emma Crawford" show, beginning at 11:00 p.m., The Haunted Dimensions Parahistorian Team will conduct an
investigation of the resident ghosts at the Iron Springs Chateau!

It is with great sorrow that we mourn the passing of Miss Emma Crawford.

As most of you, her dear friends, know, in 1889 Emma came to Manitou in search of her
health. She was accompanied by her mother and her fiancé, Mr. William Hildebrand. It was
the young couple’s greatest desire that Emma, who suffered from consumption, would
benefit from Manitou’s healing waters and crisp mountain air. She partook of them both
abundantly and freely on her many walks in the area.

Emma rallied and was busily preparing for her wedding. Life was a blessing indeed. But
fate held a different card and the Reaper was not to leave with empty hands. Emma
succumbed.

Father Jean Baptist Francolon and his mother Marie have graciously offered to open their
magnificent home, Miramont, for Emma’s wake. Many of her friends that she had met on her
travels seeking better health are making plans to attend. Some of the more notable are
Dr. and Mrs. William Bell, Dr. and Mrs. Isaac Davis, and, of course, Father Francolon
and his mother, Madam Marie Francolon.

The cost of admission will grant you entrance into Miramont, viewing of Emma laid out in
the parlour in pure Victorian splendor, and a Victorian Wake, resplendent with a
generous Victorian buffet dinner and beverages in the Great Hall. Since this is sure to
be one of the year's most talked about events, make your credit card reservations early.
Space is limited.

"Ghost Stories of Old Manitou" Walking Tours start at 5:30 pm.

Time To Get Your Spooky On!

Emma Crawford Festival:
What would you do to remember a beloved member of the community?  I bet coffin racing didn't come to mind.
Since 1994, Manitou Springs ,Colorado, partakes in this annual tradition in honor of Emma Crawford. Of all things they could do, why coffin
racing?

Emma came to Manitou Springs for the miracle mineral springs in 1889. She was diagnosed with tuberculosis, which back then was a death
sentence. Unfortunately, she lost her battle on December 4, 1891, at the age of 19. Her dying wish was to be buried on top of Red Mountain. Her
fiance, William Hildebrand (a civil engineer on the Pikes Peak Cog Railway), and eleven other men carried her body up the 7,200 ft. slope. In
1929, after years of stormy weather, her remains washed down the side of the mountain.  Only her casket handles, a nameplate and a few
bones were found.

Some say she haunts Red Mountain.

Emma was buried some years later in Manitou Springs Cemetery in an unmarked grave. A grave marker was erected in 2004 by Historic Manitou
Springs, Inc. to honor her life.

Now, the townspeople honor her every year in late October with The Emma Crawford Festival.

Ghost Stories of Old Manitou Walking Tours

October 26, 2013

Tours start at 5:30 pm.

2013 will be even better!

The ghost tours have been held during the Emma Crawford Festival since the beginning of the event and are a tradition for many residents and
visitors.  “We’ve had kids who have  grown up with the Ghost Tours. It’s  fun to see people come back every year.” stated Tour Organizer
Deborah Harrison. The tours tell the stories of real people who lived or died in remarkable ways in Manitou Springs.  The ghosts come back to
visit on this one night and the tours feature at least one new or different ghost each year.

The tours, approximately 45 minutes long, depart from the  Manitou Springs Heritage Center (517 Manitou Avenue) starting at 5:30 p.m. and
leave every 15 minutes until the last tour at 9:00 p.m .

Tickets are on sale starting October 1st at the Manitou Springs Heritage Center for $10  adults and $5 children under 12.  (Historic Manitou
members receive $2 off adult and $1 of children’s tickets). Advance tickets are recommended as tours usually sell out.

Also, for people interesting in helping, there are a few volunteer positions left for assisting with tour preparations and to “channel” the ghosts
and spirit guides the night of the tour.  Harrison noted parts big and small for a variety of people are still  available, but are going fast.   Anyone
interested in “exercising” their dramatic talents or who want to  work behind the scenes are encouraged to contact the Heritage Center ASAP if
interested.

For  information, to volunteer, and for tickets, contact the Manitou Springs Heritage Center by phone at (719)685-1454, by email at
manitouheritage@gmail.com, or come by 517 Manitou Avenue  during the regular hours of Thursday thru Monday from 11:00-5:00 pm.  The
Heritage Center is operated by Historic Manitou Springs, Inc., a non-profit 501(c)3 organization and the tour proceeds support operations.

This low-budget freak show/cult classic/cultural institution concerns the misadventures of Brad Majors and Janet Weiss inside a strange mansion
that they come across on a rainy night. After the wholesome pair profess their love through an opening song, their car breaks down in the
woods, and they seek refuge in a towering castle nearby. Greeting them at the door is a ghoulish butler named Riff Raff , who introduces them to
a bacchanalian collection of party-goers dressed in outfits from some sort of interplanetary thrift shop.

The host of this gathering is a transvestite clad in lingerie, Dr. Frank N. Furter , a mad scientist who claims to be from another planet. With
assistants Columbia and Magenta looking on, Frank unveils his latest creation -- a figure wrapped in gauze and submerged in a tank full of
liquid. With the addition of colored dyes and some assistance from the weather, Frank brings to life a blonde young beefcake wearing nothing
but skimpy shorts, who launches into song in his first minute of life. Just when Brad and Janet think things couldn't get any stranger, a biker
bursts onto the scene to reclaim Columbia, his ex-girlfriend. When Frank kills the biker, it's clear that Brad and Janet will be guests for the night,
and that they may be next on Frank's list -- whether for murder or carnal delights is uncertain. And just what is that mystery meat they're eating
for dinner, anyway?

In addition to playing Riff Raff, O'Brien wrote the catchy songs, with John Barry and Richard Hartley composing the score.
