In the North Fork Valley

Paonia was named by its founder, Samuel Wade, for the peony roots which he brought with him by covered wagon in 1881. He
submitted the Latin name for the flower, Paeonia as the official town name but the Post Office Department wouldn't allow the extra
vowel, thus: Paonia. Original stock from Samuel's peonies still grow in the Town Park.

Paonia boasts a two block main street with no traffic jams and about 1500 residents. Mount Lamborn, 11,395 feet, provides a
stunning backdrop for Paonia and the surrounding mesas. Some 5,000 people live on the eight mesas near Paonia. Orchards,
small ranches, homes and horse farms cover the mesas, and a drive up any one of them guarantees spectacular views of the
Ragged Mountains, Mount Lamborn and the valley below.

The town park is the crown jewel of Paonia and is one of the reasons that Paonia makes the Tree City USA selection year after

At an altitude of 5,645 and cupped in the high mountains, the Paonia area has become famous for it apples. This reputation,
began when pioneer fruit swept prizes at the Chicago World's Fair. Delta County remains Colorado's largest producer of apples.

baths, gracious lobby and dining rooms, conference room/lounge, commercial kitchen, and owners' quarters. It currently operates
as a bed and breakfast, but has great potential for making your dream come true.

Now a Paonia, Colorado bed and breakfast, the Bross Hotel was first opened in 1906 by Deputy Sheriff W. T. Bross. At the time it
was considered "the only really first-class hotel in the county" by local authorities. Just one block from Paonia's main street, the
hotel flourished for nearly 70 years. In the mid-90s this legendary structure was revitalized. It has the charm of an old hotel and the
amenities of a modern bed and breakfast inn. The Bross Hotel is once again Delta County's premier hotel.

The Bross Hotel is your Colorado vacation home with easy access to local attractions and activities, such as national parks and
wilderness areas, art and music venues, fine food, and wonderful wine and fruit. It is, also, the perfect setting for intimate
weddings, memorable honeymoons, festive parties, business conferences, workshops or seminars/retreats.

features ten guestrooms, each with its own bath. All rooms boast expansive views, and some open into family suites.

The spacious dining room is a focal point of the Bross Hotel. Isn't the delicious breakfast a prime reason for choosing to stay at a
B&B? Breakfast at the Bross Hotel is served buffet style on an 18-foot, antique back bar. Guests never go hungry. The menu
always includes fresh seasonal fruit, juice, cereal, toast with homemade jam, beverages, and a hot main dish.

The multipurpose room doubles as a meeting facility/conference room, making the Bross Hotel the ideal location for your business
meeting, group or hobby weekend retreat, club meeting or class reunion. It can accommodate groups of 3 to 30 and has facilities
necessary to conduct business in this information age.

Stay in the haunted room!! The English/Ghost's Room (#2)

- Sensing a presence in this room, the renovators kept this room its original size and number while tucking a bathroom into a closet.

The friendly ghost of Mother Bross will look over you as you snuggle into the double bed topped by a quilt reminiscent of the
England shown in the pictures on the walls.
